2. WHAT DO MY FEES INCLUDE?

The fees shown are for tuition and for examination fees where appropriate. There may be costs during the course for books and materials. In some circumstances these may be available from your course tutor or the college at an additional cost.

3. HOW CAN I PAY FOR A COURSE?

Payment can be made at the centre by cash, cheque or by credit/debit card online through the College enrolment site. The correct fee must be paid in full at time of enrolment except for courses over £100, in which case 2 equal installments will be accepted. For courses over £150, we will accept 3 equal installment payments. Places on courses will not be reserved for learners pending receipt of correct fee/documents, but learners will be contacted to resolve problems.

4. MUST I TAKE AN EXAM OR ASSESSMENT?

If you are enrolling on a course leading to a qualification you will be expected to take the examination/assessment at the appropriate time. Examination/assessment costs are charged at the time of enrolment and are non refundable.

5. CAN I GET A REFUND?

Fee refunds will only be given where the learner notifies the college in writing two weeks before the start date of the course. An administration fee of £20.00 will be charged for processing the refund.

Where the college closes a course, all learners will be given a full refund. In the event of a course closure, the administration fee will not be charged to the learner. Where the College changes the published details of a course, those learners for whom the course is no longer suitable will receive a full refund, without being charged an administration fee.

No refund will be given in any other circumstances.

6. CAN I TRANSFER TO ANOTHER COURSE?

Transfer can usually be arranged providing there are space.

7. WHAT IF THE COURSE IS CANCELLED OR CHANGES?

Our courses usually run as advertised, but The Adult College reserves the right to alter or cancel courses in some circumstances. If it becomes necessary for us to cancel your course, your fees will be refunded.

8. DISCLAIMER - WILL THERE BE CHANGES?

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information in this publication. However, The Adult College reserves the right to cancel or change a course,  the venue, or to substitute a tutor whenever it is considered necessary. The Adult College reserves the right not to accept an application for enrolment.

9. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT LEVEL I AM?

Many courses are aimed at teaching learners at a particular skill level in that subject. To determine your skill level, please contact The Adult College staff, who will be happy to discuss this with you.

10. HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO ENROL?

Students have to be aged 16 or over on the date the course starts for apprenticeship course.  18 and over for all other  courses.
 

11. WHAT IS SKILLS FOR LIFE?

Skills for Life offers individuals resident in the UK, courses designed to improve life skills such as English and Maths. Learning can be done at your own pace, in small friendly groups and lead to qualifications. For more information, contact the The Adult College.

12. ARE THERE REFRESHMENTS?

A cafe is available at the Ripple site, which is open during term time.

CENTRES

1. WHERE DO I PARK?

Unfortunately, we do not offer parking spaces at any site, but there are several locations nearby the College where parking is available.

2. WHAT IF IT SNOWS - OR SOME OTHER SEVERE WEATHER?

During severe weather, students are advised to contact the centre on 020 8270 4722. Alternately, you can check The Adult College website and Moodle for further information.

3. SMOKING POLICY

Smoking is not permitted at any of the Adult College sites.

4. WHAT ABOUT HEALTH & SAFETY?

Hazards - whilst every effort is made to eliminate potential hazards, they do appear from time to time. Should you discover a hazard, please report it immediately to a member of The Adult College staff.

Fire and evacuation procedures will be explained to you at your first session. You will be advised of specific hazards that may be present within your subject in the course information material and at the first session.

5. DO CENTRES PROVIDE CHILDCARE?

Childcare is not provided by the college. However, if you need care for a child while studying at the college, we may be able to help you fund childcare at your local childminder, creche or nursery (who must be OFSTED registered). Please note that there are restrictions - support cannot be guaranteed and it is on a first come first served basis. For further information please call 0208 270 4722 and ask for Student Services. 

6. WHAT IS THE LEARNER SUPPORT FUND?

Do you have a low family income?
If you answer 'yes' to either of these, you may be able to get some help with course fees, childcare, exam fees and essential course materials. To find out if you are eligible, please contact the Student Services Team at The Adult College.

LIABILITY, QUALITY, COMPLIMENTS & COMPLAINTS

1. LIABILITY - WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY IS IT?

Students attend all courses at their own risk.
No liability is accepted for loss or damage to personal property, or for personal injury unless caused by negligence of the staff or agents of The Adult College.

3. LETTING US KNOW

We aim to provide an outstanding service at all times. We will always welcome your suggestions and compliments. Quality assurance systems are in place to enable continual monitoring of the service.  Feedback forms can be found on moodle and our website. We appreciate that from time to time things can go wrong. Problems can be raised with your tutor and will be dealt with sympathetically and promptly. The Complaints Procedure is available from your tutor, on display throughtout the college, or can be obtained from the Student Services Team.
